PROCLAMATION NO. 2181

DECLARING THE FOURTH WEEK OF APRIL AS "CROP SCIENCE WEEK"

WHEREAS, the Crop Science Society of the Philippines is an organization of crop scientists, teachers, extension workers and farmers throughout the country;

WHEREAS, crop scientists, teachers, extension workers, and farmers in the country constitute the main base of Philippine agriculture;

WHEREAS, crop science research, teaching, extension and technology development play a vital role in the promotion of the country's agricultural programs;

WHEREAS, the crop science community meets annually to discuss scientific research results, discuss and find solutions to agricultural problems of national concern, conduct a discussion session on crops of interest between experts and farmers and confer awards to deserving individuals for outstanding achievement in research, teaching, extension and technology development in the field of crop science;

WHEREAS, there is a need to bring the crop science profession and discipline closer to the people whom the crop science community of the Philippines is dedicated to serve; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to recognize the important contribution to crop science research and development of the country so as to strengthen the force that binds crop scientists, teachers, extension workers, and farmers together.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the fourth week of April as Crop Science Week.
