PROCLAMATION NO. 2357
DECLARING MONDAY, MAY 14, 1984, AS NATIONWIDE NON-WORKING SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY
WHEREAS, Sec. 5 (a), Art. VIII of the New Constitution provides that "The regular election of the Members of the Batasang Pambansa shall be held on the second Monday of May 1984 and every six years thereafter";
WHEREAS, pursuant to Batas Pambansa Blg. 697 dated March 14, 1984, an election has been called on May 14, 1984, to choose the members of the Batasang Pambansa; and
WHEREAS, Monday, May 14, 1984 may be declared a non-working special public holiday to give all registered voters fullest opportunity to exercise their right of suffrage;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, May 14, 1984, as a nationwide non-working special public holiday.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
DONE in the City of Manila, this 10th day of May, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Four.
