Declaring August 19 as a Special Working Holiday Throughout the Philippines
Republic Act No. 6741, enacted on August 4, 1989, designates August 19 of each year as a special working holiday across the Philippines. However, in the provinces of Quezon and Aurora, as well as Quezon City, it is recognized as a special non-working public holiday. This act aims to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President Manuel L. Quezon. It will take effect 15 days after publication in at least two newspapers of general circulation. REPUBLIC ACT NO. 6741
AN ACT DECLARING AUGUST NINETEEN OF EACH YEAR A SPECIAL WORKING HOLIDAY THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PHILIPPINES AND A SPECIAL NON-WORKING PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCES OF QUEZON AND AURORA AND QUEZON CITY, TO COMMEMORATE THE BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF FORMER PRESIDENT MANUEL L. QUEZON
SECTION 1. In order to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President Manuel L. Quezon, August Nineteen of each year is hereby declared as a special working holiday throughout the entire Philippines with the exception of the provinces of Quezon and Aurora and Quezon City where it shall be a non-working holiday.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation. acd
