PROCLAMATION NO. 1850

DECLARING A PERIOD OF NATIONAL MOURNING OVER THE DEATH OF CORAZON C. AQUINO, FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES

WHEREAS, former President of the Philippines Corazon C. Aquino died today;

WHEREAS, President Aquino will always be remembered and will live forever in the heart of every Filipino as a beloved mother of the nation who led her people back to the road of freedom and democracy;

WHEREAS, her death is a great loss to our country and our people; ScaHDT

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, do hereby proclaim the period August 1, 2009 to August 10, 2009, as a period of national mourning for our beloved former President. During this period, flags of all government buildings and installations throughout the Philippines and abroad shall be flown at half-mast.
