PROCLAMATION NO. 909
DECLARING SUNDAY, 16 FEBRUARY 2020 AS SPECIAL WORKING HOLIDAY IN CELEBRATION OF THE CORREGIDOR D-DAY
WHEREAS, the Government aims to inculcate and strengthen patriotism and nationalism among Filipinos;
WHEREAS, historical records show that on 16 February 1945, Filipinos with American allies commenced the successful attack to retake the Island of Corregidor; and
WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper to commemorate victorious moments in Philippine history in remembrance of Filipino bravery and heroism;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Sunday, 16 February 2020 a special working holiday, in celebration of the Corregidor D-Day.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
DONE in the City of Manila, this 21st day of February, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Twenty.
