Creation of Municipality of Can-avid, Samar
Republic Act No. 264, enacted on June 15, 1948, establishes the municipality of Can-avid in the Province of Samar, separating it from the municipality of Dolores. The newly formed municipality includes the barrios of Can-avid, Carolina, Barok, Cansangaya, Mabuhay, Camantang, Canilay, Pandol, and Balagon. The officials of Can-avid will be appointed by the President until elected successors are in place. The municipality will officially commence upon the President's proclamation and the qualification of its officials. This Act took effect immediately upon approval.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 264
AN ACT TO CREATE THE MUNICIPALITY OF CAN-AVID IN THE PROVINCE OF SAMAR
SECTION 1. The barrios of Can-avid, Carolina, Barok, Cansangaya, Mabuhay, Camantang, Canilay, Pandol and Balagon are separated from the municipality of Dolores, Province of Samar, and constituted into a new and regular municipality to be known as the municipality of Can-avid in the Province of Samar.
SECTION 2. The officials of the newly-created municipality shall be appointed by the President, to hold office until their successors have been elected and qualified.
SECTION 3. The municipality herein created shall begin to exist on the date fixed in a proclamation to said effect by the President of the Philippines and upon the appointment and qualification of its officers.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
