Batas Pambansa Blg. 255, enacted on November 12, 1982, converts the Carles Municipal High School in Iloilo into a national high school, named Carles National High School. The Ministry of Education and Culture is tasked with overseeing the conversion and operation of the school. An initial funding of one hundred thousand pesos is allocated from previously authorized appropriations, with local government required to contribute to ongoing operational costs. Future funding for the school's maintenance will be included in the annual General Appropriations Act. The law took effect upon its approval.

AN ACT CONVERTING THE CARLES MUNICIPAL HIGH SCHOOL IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CARLES, PROVINCE OF ILOILO, INTO A NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, TO BE KNOWN AS THE CARLES NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, AND AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS THEREFOR
SECTION 1. The Carles Municipal High School in the Municipality of Carles, Province of Iloilo, is converted into a national high school, to be known as the Carles National High School. asia dc
SECTION 2. The Ministry of Education and Culture is directed to take the necessary steps as are necessary for the conversion and operation of the school and immediate implementation of this Act. acd
SECTION 3. The amount of one hundred thousand pesos for the operation of the school shall be funded out of the appropriations authorized by Batas Pambansa Blg. 131 for the Ministry of Education and Culture intended for new national schools: Provided, That the local government unit concerned shall continue to provide its share in the cost of operating and maintaining said school. Thereafter, such sum as may be necessary for its operations and maintenance shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
