Changing the Name of the Bureau of Public Libraries to the National Library
Republic Act No. 3873, enacted on June 18, 1964, officially changes the name of the Bureau of Public Libraries to The National Library. All existing references to the Bureau in laws, executive orders, and regulations will now be interpreted as referring to The National Library. The Act took effect immediately upon its approval and was published in the Official Gazette on September 28, 1964.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 3873
AN ACT CHANGING THE NAME OF THE BUREAU OF PUBLIC LIBRARIES TO THE NATIONAL LIBRARY
SECTION 1. The name of the Bureau of Public Libraries is hereby changed to that of The National Library. cd
SECTION 2. All references to the Bureau of Public Libraries in laws, executive orders, rules and regulations shall henceforth be understood to refer to The National Library.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
