Authority to Municipal Councils of Manila and Baguio to Grant Gratuities to Members of the Police of Their Families

ACT NO. 3787
AN ACT AUTHORIZING MUNICIPAL COUNCILS, THE MUNICIPAL BOARD OF MANILA AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF BAGUIO, TO GRANT GRATUITIES TO THE MEMBERS OF THE POLICE OR THEIR FAMILIES, IN CERTAIN CASES, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
SECTION 1. Municipal councils, the Municipal Board of Manila and the city council of Baguio are hereby authorized to grant a gratuity of not more than five hundred pesos, by appropriation from their available general funds, to any members of the police of the municipality or city who has rendered faithful and efficient service and has become disabled or has died in the line of duty, or to his family.
SECTION 2. Before granting the gratuity provided for in the preceding section, the municipal council, municipal board, or city council concerned may require the municipal president and the division health officer, or the mayor and chief health officer of the city, as the case may be, to carefully investigate the cause of the disability or death of the policeman in order to determine whether he actually contracted his disability or death in the line of duty, and if after due investigation and medical advice it is found that the disability or death of said policeman were due to this cause, he shall report the same to the council or board, as the case may be, for the granting of a gratuity.
SECTION 3. The provisions of this Act shall be applicable to the regular municipalities of Mindanao, Sulu, and Palawan.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
