GSIS RESOLUTION NO. 165-14

APPROVAL OF THE POLICY AND PROCEDURAL GUIDELINES (PPG) ON FUNERAL BENEFITS

WHEREAS, the funeral benefit is one of the social security benefits being paid by the GSIS to the heirs of its qualified members and pensioners, as provided under R.A. No. 660, R.A. No. 1616, P.D. No. 1146, and R.A. No. 8291;

WHEREAS, there is a need to issue clear-cut policies and guidelines on the processing of funeral benefits to ensure uniform implementation of the policies as well as the timely payment of the benefit by all operating units;

WHEREAS, there is also a need to address policy gaps that contribute to delays in the payment of the funeral benefit;

RESOLVED, to APPROVE and CONFIRM the Policy and Procedural Guidelines (PPG) on Funeral Benefits, as proposed by the Senior Vice President, NCR Operations Group in her Memorandum dated 03 November 2014.

A copy of the PPG on Funeral Benefits is made an integral part of this Resolution.
