ACT NO. 711
AN ACT TO CREATE THE OFFICE OF ASSISTANT ATTORNEY-GENERAL FOR THE BUREAU OF PHILIPPINES CONSTABULARY
SECTION 1. There shall be appointed by the Civil Governor, by and with the consent of the Commission, an Assistant Attorney-General for the Bureau of Philippines Constabulary, who shall receive compensation at the rate of three thousand five hundred dollars per annum, in money of the United States. The Assistant Attorney-General thus authorized shall be the legal adviser of the Chief of the Philippines Constabulary, and shall assist the Chief and the other officers of the Bureau in the collection and preparation of evidence for criminal prosecutions; he shall appear on behalf of the Chief of the Bureau, and other officers thereof, in habeas corpus and other proceedings to which the Chief of the Bureau or any officer thereof may be a party as such Chief or officer; he shall take part in any criminal trials when ordered by the Civil Governor or the Attorney-General, and shall discharge such other duties in the Bureau of Justice as the Attorney-General may direct.
SECTION 2. The Attorney-General may assign to assist the Assistant Attorney-General for the Bureau of Philippines Constabulary such officers or employees of the Bureau of Justice as from time to time may seem necessary.
SECTION 3. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
