An Act Conferring Upon The Supreme Court Jurisdiction to Hear In The Last Instance Criminal Cases Filed Originally In The Justice of The Peace and Municipal Courts

ACT NO. 2677
AN ACT CONFERRING UPON THE SUPREME COURT JURISDICTION TO HEAR IN THE LAST INSTANCE CRIMINAL CASES FILED ORIGINALLY IN THE JUSTICE OF THE PEACE AND MUNICIPAL COURTS
SECTION 1. Sentences pronounced by Courts of First Instance in criminal cases originating in justice of the peace and municipal courts shall not be final if the defendant appeals within the period provided by law. The defendant may appeal from such sentences to the Supreme Court in all cases.
The procedure in said cases in the Courts of First Instance shall be the same as in the courts of origin.
SECTION 2. All Acts or parts of Acts inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
