Amendments to Section 47 of Act No. 183 (Re: Incorporation of City of Manila)

Act No. 1420Statutes

Act No. 1420, enacted on December 8, 1905, amends Section 47 of Act No. 183, which incorporated the City of Manila. The amendment reduces the annual tax on the assessed value of real estate in Manila for 1905 from two percent to one and one-half percent. Taxpayers who paid the higher rate will receive a rebate when paying their taxes for 1906, based on the difference between the two rates. The act emphasizes the need for prompt passage and takes effect immediately upon enactment.
