PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1757
AMENDING PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1663 RECONSTITUTING THE MUNICIPALITIES OF PANAMAO (OLD) AND NEW PANAMAO AS WELL AS TALIPAO IN THE PROVINCE OF SULU AND CHANGING THE NAME OF NEW PANAMAO TO PANGLIMA ESTINO
WHEREAS, the creation of the Municipality of New Panamao for the purpose of accelerating the economic development of the municipalities affected and making it responsive to the present campaign for peace and order in the New Society was made possible by Presidential Decree No. 1663; cd i
WHEREAS, in the implementation of said Decree, a consensus has been reached among the constituents concerned that the name of New Panamao be changed to Panglima Estino and that further reconstitution of barangays be made to preserve their integrity as political and social units;
WHEREAS, said reconstitution will benefit economically, socially and politically the residents thereat and serve to enhance even further the attainment of the goals for which Presidential Decree No. 1663 was intended;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution do hereby amend Presidential Decree No. 1663 as follows: aisa dc
SECTION 1. Barangays Marsada, Paiksa and Likba, all in the municipality of old Panamao and Barangay Jinggan in the municipality of Talipao are hereby detached and separated therefrom, and included among the barangays transferred to the Municipality of New Panamao, province of Sulu under Presidential Decree No. 1663.
SECTION 2. Henceforth, the Municipality of New Panamao, Province of Sulu shall, as a political subdivision, be known as "Municipality of Panglima Estino" and all transactions, documents, laws, decrees, court orders, or decisions, ordinances, resolutions, and all other papers bearing the name of New Panamao, Sulu, shall be understood to mean "Municipality of Panglima Estino".
SECTION 3. The present elective officials of the barangays covered in Section 1 hereof shall continue to perform their duties as such officials until their successors shall have been elected in the regular elections for Barangay officials following the issuance of this Decree and shall have qualified.
SECTION 4. All laws, decrees, executive orders, ordinances, rules and regulations, or parts thereof, inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed, amended or modified accordingly.
SECTION 5. This Decree shall take effect immediately.
