Act No. 3585, approved on November 27, 1929, amends the prescription periods for various offenses penalized by special acts and municipal ordinances in the Philippines. It establishes that violations punished by fines or imprisonment of up to one month will prescribe after one year, while more severe penalties have longer prescription periods, ranging from four to twenty years depending on the severity of the crime. Notably, offenses against laws administered by the Bureau of Internal Revenue will prescribe after five years. Municipal ordinance violations have a shorter prescription period of two months. This act took effect immediately upon its approval.
