Amendment to Act No. 1285 Re: Tax Exemption to Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Republic Act No. 1178, enacted on June 19, 1954, amends a previous law to exempt the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals from all tax payments on its income or receipts. This exemption is retroactive to July 4, 1946. The Act emphasizes that, notwithstanding any conflicting laws, the society shall not be subject to taxation. The law takes effect upon its approval and was published in the Official Gazette in September 1954.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 1178
AN ACT TO FURTHER AMEND ACT NUMBERED ONE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED EIGHTY-FIVE BY PROVIDING THAT THE SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS BE EXEMPTED FROM THE PAYMENT OF ALL TAXES
SECTION 1. Act Numbered One thousand two hundred eighty-five is further amended by inserting between sections six and seven thereof, the following: aisa dc
"Sec. 6-A. All provisions of law to the contrary notwithstanding, the society is exempted as of July four, nineteen hundred forty-six, from the payment of the all taxes on any receipts or income received by it from whatever source."
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
