Amending R.A. No. 4666 Re: Prohibiting the Exportation of Fiber or Filaments of "Buri"
Presidential Decree No. 180, issued on April 27, 1973, amends Republic Act No. 4666, which initially imposed a total ban on the exportation of buri fibers (buntal). The amendment allows for the export of these fibers only with prior authorization from the President or an authorized representative. This change aims to alleviate the negative impact of the previous ban on the buri industry and the livelihoods of farmers and workers dependent on it. The decree reflects a balance between industry support and regulatory oversight.
