Amending MC 16-89A (Guidelines and Procedures for Issuance of Special Radiotelephone Operator's Permit for Fishing Vessels)
The NTC Memorandum Circular No. 07-12-2009 amends the previously established guidelines for the Special Radiotelephone Operator's Permit for Fishing Vessels (SROP-FV), renaming it to Special Radio Operators Permit (SROP) to broaden its application across various maritime services. The new SROP allows holders to operate any licensed VHF radio station with a maximum power output of 25 watts. Additionally, accredited Maritime Radio Training Centers are authorized to conduct a one-day VHF Radio Communication Course, which covers essential maritime radio regulations and practical training, with certification issued upon completion. Training centers must report graduate statistics to the NTC, and the circular becomes effective 15 days after publication.
