NTC Memorandum Circular No. 08-12-2009Dec 22, 2009Other Rules and Procedures

The NTC Memorandum Circular No. 08-12-2009 outlines guidelines for the special registration of unregistered radio transceivers on commercial fishing vessels weighing 3.1 gross tons and above. This initiative supports the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources' (BFAR) efforts to manage fisheries and combat illegal fishing practices. Vessel owners are required to register their radio equipment at designated NTC Regional Offices, with specific registration fees based on equipment type and power. Registration does not authorize construction or operation of the equipment, which requires separate permits. Violations related to registered equipment usage may result in administrative sanctions and penalties.
