ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 1-W
In view of the fact that under the present war situation the Insular Purchasing Agency of the Government of the Commonwealth of the Philippines established in New York, N.Y., will make more purchases of supplies, materials and equipment for shipment to the Philippines for the duration of the war, it is hereby ordered that the said Purchasing Agency be temporarily closed effective January 31, 1943.
The records, equipment, stock, and current work of the Purchasing Agency shall be transferred to the Philippine National Bank, New York Agency, which shall continue all necessary work pertaining to the Purchasing Agency for the account of the Philippine Government and its subsidiary corporations. For this purpose, the present Purchasing Agent, Mr. H. L. Hershey, is hereby transferred to the Philippine National Bank, New York Agency, and his full salary at the rate of $562.50 monthly shall be paid by the Bank beginning February 1, 1943. Payment of the retirement gratuity to which Mr. Hershey is entitled under the provisions of Act No. 4151 shall be deferred until he leaves the service of the bank.
Mr. Jaime Hernandez, Auditor General, is authorized to approve detailed arrangements for carrying out this Order.
