SECOND DIVISION
[G.R. No. 232808. December 6, 2017.]
EDITHA V. DORADO, petitioner,vs. SECRETARY ARMIN A. LUISTRO — DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION, respondent.
NOTICE
Sirs/Mesdames :
Please take notice that the Court, Second Division, issued a Resolution dated06 December 2017which reads as follows: aScITE
"G.R. No. 232808 (Editha V. Dorado v. Secretary Armin A. Luistro — Department of Education and the Civil Service Commission)
After a judicious study of the case, the Court resolves to DENY the instant petition and AFFIRM the January 20, 2017 Decision 1 and June 29, 2017 Resolution 2 of the Court of Appeals (CA) in CA-G.R. SP No. 06948 for failure of petitioner Editha V. Dorado (petitioner) to sufficiently show that the CA committed any reversible error in upholding the denial of her entitlement to backwages.
As correctly ruled by the CA, petitioner's absence from work as Teacher III at Lugan Central Elementary School, T'boli, South Cotabato due to her detention for a criminal charge, is considered a leave of absence without pay that rendered her ineligible for backwages. 3 Well-settled is the rule that the "findings of fact of administrative bodies will not be interfered with by the courts in the absence of grave abuse of discretion on the part of the former," 4 as in this case.
SO ORDERED."
Very truly yours,
MA. LOURDES C. PERFECTODivision Clerk of Court

3. "The holding of the Civil Service Commission that private respondent was on automatic leave of absence during the period of her detention must be sustained. The CSC is the constitutionally mandated central personnel agency of the Government tasked to 'establish a career service and adopt measures to promote morale, efficiency, integrity, responsiveness, progressiveness and courtesy in the civil service' and 'strengthen the merit and rewards system, integrate all human resources development programs for all levels and ranks, and institutionalize a management climate conducive to public accountability.' Besides, the Administrative Code of 1987 further empowers the CSC to 'prescribe, amend, and enforce rules and regulations for carrying into effect the provisions of the Civil Service Law and other pertinent laws,' and for matters concerning leaves of absence."
