PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1064
TRANSFERRING THE FUNCTIONS OF REGISTRATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF PHILIPPINE VESSELS TO THE PHILIPPINE COAST GUARD
WHEREAS, in the order to prevent duplication of functions in the matter of registration, documentation, issuance of certificates and licensing of Philippine vessels, it is necessary that the same should be transferred to the Philippine Coast Guard. cdt
WHEREAS, it is necessary to consolidate all of these functions in the Philippine Coast Guard whose primary function is to oversee local shipping movements.
NOW THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby decree and order:
SECTION 1. Section 3 of Presidential Decree No. 761 is hereby amended to read:
"SECTION 3. Any provision of law, decree, executive order or rules and regulations to the contrary notwithstanding the Philippine Coast Guard is hereby vested with exclusive authority over the registration and documentation of Philippine vessels, as well as the issuance of all certificates, licenses or other document necessary or incident to such registration and documentation."
SECTION 3. This Decree shall take effect immediately.
DONE in the city of Manila, this 18th day of December, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-Six.
