Transfer of Medical and Dental Services to Department of Education
Republic Act No. 847, enacted on May 23, 1953, transfers the Medical and Dental Services in public schools from the Bureau of Health back to the Department of Education, where it originally resided from 1946 to 1950. The Department of Health will continue to oversee hygiene and sanitation. The Act repeals any conflicting laws or orders. It became effective upon approval and was published in the Official Gazette.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 847
AN ACT TRANSFERRING THE MEDICAL AND DENTAL SERVICES TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
SECTION 1. The Medical and Dental Services in the Public Schools which is now functioning as a division of the Bureau of Health, since January first, nineteen hundred and fifty-one, is hereby transferred or returned back to the Department of Education as a division of that Department where it originally belonged from nineteen hundred and forty-six to nineteen hundred and fifty: Provided, That the supervision of hygiene and sanitation shall be exercised by the Department of Health. aisa dc
SECTION 2. All laws, acts, executive orders, or parts thereof, inconsistent with the provision of this act hereby repealed.
This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
Enacted on May 23, 1953, without Executive approval.
