Training of Barangay Officials To Qualify Them as Deputy Fish Wardens and/or Deputy Forest Officers

LETTER OF INSTRUCTIONS NO. 550

Pursuant to Presidential Decree Nos. 704 and 705, and to enforce, implement and execute effectively all fishery and forestry laws, rules and regulations, and considering the inadequate number of field personnel of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and the Bureau of Forest Development to enforce said laws, rules and regulations, the following instructions are hereby issued:
1. The Secretary of Natural Resources shall coordinate with the Secretary of Local Governments and Community Development in the preparation of a program for the training of barangay officials to qualify them as deputy fish wardens and/or deputy forest officers.
2. The Secretary of Natural Resources shall cause the training of the barangay officials in order that they can perform effectively the functions of a deputy fish wardens and/or deputy forest officers, and shall thereafter deputize all barangay officials found competent to assist in the execution, implementation and enforcement of all fishery and forestry laws, rules and regulations. acd
3. The Commissioner of the Budget shall release the funds necessary for this purpose.
This Letter of Instructions shall take effect immediately.
