Resolution Creating a Select Oversight Committee on Barangay Affairs
Senate Resolution No. 032-14, adopted on February 4, 2014, establishes a Select Oversight Committee on Barangay Affairs in the Philippines. This committee aims to evaluate the performance of barangays, which are the primary political units responsible for implementing government policies and programs at the grassroots level, as outlined in the Local Government Code of 1991. Despite having 42,028 barangays, many struggle to effectively execute their development plans. The creation of this committee is crucial for enhancing local governance and ensuring that barangays better meet the needs of their communities.
