Senate Resolution No. 131, adopted on November 9, 2021, authorizes the Senate of the Philippines to file a petition in the Supreme Court to affirm its constitutional power to conduct inquiries in aid of legislation as outlined in Article VI, Section 21 of the Constitution. This action follows a memorandum from the Executive Secretary that directed Executive Department officials to cease attending Senate hearings, which the Senate views as an infringement on its rights. The resolution underscores the Senate's duty to uphold its mandate and seek judicial relief if necessary to protect its prerogatives against interference from any government branch or individual.
