Recreation of Municipalities of Legaspi and Daraga, Albay
Republic Act No. 993, enacted on June 8, 1954, recreates the municipalities of Legaspi and Daraga in the Province of Albay, which had been previously dissolved upon the establishment of the City of Legaspi. The Act mandates the equitable division of the City’s funds, obligations, and properties between the two municipalities, facilitated by the President based on the Auditor General's recommendations. City officials separated from service due to this Act are entitled to a gratuity equivalent to one month's salary for each year of service, funded by the National Government. The initial local officials for both municipalities will be appointed by the President until elections are held. The Act also repeals an earlier law related to the municipalities and takes effect upon approval.
