Providing for the Payment of Per Diems to Employees in the Bureau of Engineering Directed to Perform Official Travel
Act No. 1127, enacted on April 28, 1904, establishes a per diem payment of $2.50 (or its Philippine currency equivalent) for employees of the Bureau of Engineering who undertake official travel. This payment is applicable for each day spent traveling or away from their regular station on official duties, in addition to necessary transportation costs. However, if transportation includes subsistence or if food is provided by a government mess, the per diem will not be granted for that portion of the journey. The Act also empowers the Consulting Engineer to assign employees for overseeing and inspecting public works. It emphasizes the urgency of its enactment for the public good.
