Making Appropriations for Current Expenses for the Non-Christian Peoples in the Mountain Province and Nueva Vizcaya

ACT NO. 2547

AN ACT MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR CURRENT EXPENSES, PUBLIC WORKS AND PERMANENT IMPROVEMENTS, AND FOR THE ADVANCEMENT IN CIVILIZATION OF THE NON-CHRISTIAN PEOPLES IN THE MOUNTAIN PROVINCE AND NUEVA VIZCAYA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR NINETEEN HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as may be necessary, are hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year ending December thirty-first, nineteen hundred and sixteen:

(a)	For Insular aid to the Mountain Province, for salaries
	and wages; contingent expenses; public works and
	permanent improvements; sanitary purposes; aid to
	townships; for the agricultural, educational, economic
	and industrial advancement of its inhabitants, and for
	other purposes	P187,000.00
(b)	For Insular aid to the Province of Nueva Vizcaya, for
	salaries and wages; contingent expenses; public works
	and permanent improvements; sanitary purposes; aid
	to townships; for the agricultural, educational,
	economic and industrial advancement of its inhabitants,
	and for other purposes	73,000.00
Provided, That detailed statements of the expenditures of the
Insular aid appropriated by this section shall be furnished by
the Mountain Province and Nueva Vizcaya, to the Secretary
of the Interior, and submitted to the Philippine Commission,
on or before March first, nineteen hundred and sixteen for its
approval.
(c)	For salary of the Delegate of the Secretary of the
	Interior, at eight thousand pesos, and accrued leave
	for nineteen hundred and fourteen and nineteen
	hundred and fifteen, one thousand three hundred
	and eleven pesos and eleven centavos	9,311.00

SECTION 2. Subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Interior, the provincial boards of Nueva Vizcaya and the Mountain Province may expend upon the construction, improvement and maintenance of roads and public works, including irrigation ditches and provincial gardens, the funds accruing from the road tax and the road and bridge fund.

SECTION 3. All public works projects in the Mountain Province and in the Province of Nueva Vizcaya requiring appropriation from provincial funds of more than one thousand pesos shall be carried out under the supervision of the Bureau of Public Works unless otherwise directed by the Secretary of Commerce and Police: Provided, That the compensation due to employees used temporarily on any special project shall be paid only from the funds of such special project.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect as of January first, nineteen hundred and sixteen.
