PROCLAMATION NO. 1446
DECLARING FRIDAY, JANUARY 25, 2008 AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) HOLIDAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CARIGARA, PROVINCE OF LEYTE
WHEREAS, the Municipality of Carigara, Leyte will be celebrating its 437th Founding Day Anniversary on January 25, 2008; AEScHa
WHEREAS, the National Historical Institute recognizes the adoption of January 25, 1571 as the Founding Day of Carigara, stating that on this date, the Spanish Conquistador and Governor General Miguel Lopez de Legaspi awarded the encomienda of Carigara, Leyte to its local Spanish officer Juan de Trujillo;
WHEREAS, the said event recognizes the great importance of giving tribute to the significance of January 25 as a focal point in the history and heritage of the Municipality of Carigara, Leyte;
WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper to give the people of Carigara the full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and the laws, do hereby declare Friday, January 25, 2008, as a special non-working holiday in the Municipality of Carigara, Province of Leyte. HDICSa
