Internship Program for Mediation Trainees on Court-Annexed Mediation
The OCA Circular No. 88-2020, issued on March 9, 2020, announces the launch of an Internship Program for Mediation Trainees as part of the Court-Annexed Mediation Program in San Carlos City and Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. This program, organized by the Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA) and the Philippine Mediation Center Office (PMCO), will run from March 16 to May 16, 2020. It aims to provide trainees with practical experience in handling mediation cases, with a requirement to successfully settle at least three out of five assigned cases to qualify for accreditation as Court-Annexed Mediators. Judges and court clerks are instructed to inventory and refer mediatable cases to the designated Philippine Mediation Center Units. The Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA), through the Philippine Mediation Center Office (PMCO), in coordination with the Office of the Court Administrator, is expanding its Court-Annexed Mediation Program in San Carlos City and Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
To formally mark the establishment of the Philippine Mediation Center Units (PMCUs) in San Carlos City and Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, an Internship Program for Mediation Trainees will be conducted from 16 March 2020 to 16 May 2020. This activity aims to provide Mediation Trainees the opportunity to apply what they have learned from the Basic Mediation Course conducted at the L' Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City, on 26 to 29 November 2019, by handling mediatable cases where they should successfully settle at least three (3) out of five (5) cases assigned to them, in order to be recommended for accreditation as Court-Annexed Mediators. This program will be conducted under the supervision of a Mentor-Coach.
In connection therewith, you are hereby directed to conduct an inventory of mediatable cases and refer them to the respective PMC Units in Bacolod City, San Carlos City, and Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, starting 16 March 2020 and henceforth.
