Increase in Pension of Teachers Retired Under Act No. 3050

PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1148

AMENDING AND INCREASING THE PENSION OF THE TEACHERS RETIRED UNDER ACT NO. 3050, AS AMENDED

WHEREAS, there are still about three hundred teachers receiving pension under Act No. 3050, as amended; cd

WHEREAS, the pension for these teachers is now below the subsistence level;

WHEREAS, the welfare of these old teachers, who have spent long and dedicated service in the government as teachers, is of paramount concern to the government;

WHEREAS, present economic conditions demand that their pensions be increased in such amount as to adequately support them and their dependents in their old age.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree the following:

SECTION 1. The pension presently received by the teachers who retired under Act No. 3050 shall be increased by one hundred pesos monthly and those of their beneficiaries shall be increased fifty pesos monthly per beneficiary. cd i

SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated for the current fiscal year and annually thereafter, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, sums as may be necessary to cover the increase in pensions provided herein.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect immediately.

DONE in the City of Manila, this thirty-first of May, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-Seven.
