Inclusion of Paper Products Under the Coverage of the Price Control Law
Letter of Instructions No. 212, dated September 5, 1974, mandates the inclusion of specific paper products within the scope of price control in the Philippines. This action follows the extension of the Price Control Law (Republic Act No. 6361) and addresses the unreasonable price increases of paper products that affect the costs of basic commodities for low-income consumers. The Price Control Council is tasked with establishing maximum price ceilings for these paper products, which are critical for packaging and labeling. This measure aims to alleviate the financial burden on consumers due to rising prices.
