I. BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE
The Las Piñas Emergency Hospital began in 1977 at the former Las Piñas Municipal Hall situated across the Saint Joseph Parish Church, home of the internationally renowned bamboo organ, a national cultural treasure. By virtue of Executive Order No. 119, series of 1987, it became the Las Piñas District Hospital with a 25-bed capacity. Later it was renamed Las Piñas Integrated District Hospital under District Health Office No. IV of the National Capital Region. EcTCAD
Republic Act (R.A.) No. 7539 in 1992 increased its capacity to 50 beds. Succeeding administrative issuances upgraded it to a general hospital. In 2004, R.A. No. 9240 gave the hospital its current name, Las Piñas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center (LPGHSTC) and increased its capacity to 150 beds. At its current location along Padre Diego Cera Avenue in Pulanglupa, LPGHSTC is a 200-bed facility that as of 2019 had a bed occupancy rate of 115.71 percent, 242 average daily inpatients, 76,030 emergency room visits, and 88,362 outpatient visits.
