The target reforestation area for each Mining Contractor/Permittee/Permit Holder/Lessee shall be determined based on the disturbed area under Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program (EPEP) or Environmental Work Program (EWP), following the prescribed ratios:
1. For Mining Contractors/Permittees/Permit Holders/Lessees with 100 hectares or more Disturbed Areas:
Ratio of Area Disturbed to Area to be Reforested within three years: 1:2
e.g., If the Contractor/Permittee/Permit Holder/Lessee has a total of 100 hectares disturbed area since the start of the operation, it shall establish a total of 200 hectares within three years.
2. For Mining Contractors/Permittees/Permit Holders/Lessees with less than 100 hectares Disturbed Areas:
Ratio of Area Disturbed to Area to be Reforested within three years: 1:1.5
e.g., If the Contractor/Permittee/Permit Holder/Lessee has a total of 50 hectares disturbed area since the start of the operation, it shall establish a total of 75 hectares within three years.

e.g., If the Contractor/Permittee/Permit Holder/Lessee has a total of 100 hectares disturbed area since the start of the operation, it shall establish a total of 100 hectares within three years.
ANNEX B-2
Computation for Donation of Seedlings
The number of seedlings to be donated shall be calculated based on the following: SHIETa
• Reforestation area to be established as computed based on Annex B-1;
• Prescribed spacing; and
• Allowance of 25% for expected mortality rate.
1. Computation of reforestation area to be established:
The reforestation area to be established is computed using Annex B-1.
2. Computation of number of seedlings required per hectare:
Assumption:
| Area = One (1) Hectare = 10,000 m2 | ||
| Spacing = 5m x 5m = 25 m2 | ||
| Number of Seedlings Required (SR) | = | Area ÷ Spacing |
| = | 10,000 m2 ÷ 25 m2 | |
| = | 400 seedlings |
3. Computation of additional 25% for expected mortality rate:
| Number of Additional Seedlings (AS) | = | SR x 25% |
| = | 400 seedlings x 25% | |
| = | 100 seedlings |
• Number of Seedlings Per Hectare to be Reforested:
Number Seedlings per Hectare
| = | Number of Seedlings Required (SR) + |
| Number of Additional Seedlings (AS) | |
| = | 400 Seedlings + 100 Seedlings |
| = | 500 Seedlings per Hectare to be reforested |
• Total Number of Seedlings to be Donated:
Total Number of Seedlings
= Number of Seedlings per Hectare to be reforested X Area to be Reforested (using Annex B-1)
