Fees Charged in Government Hospitals and Charity Clinics
Republic Act No. 747, enacted on June 18, 1952, establishes a framework for classifying patients in government hospitals and charity clinics based on their financial situation. It categorizes patients into three groups: indigent patients, who receive free services if their income is below a specified threshold; partial pay patients, who must cover some costs if their income falls within a certain range; and full pay patients, who are responsible for all fees if their income exceeds the established limit. The Act also provides for a 20% fee reduction for government employees and penalties for misrepresentation of financial status. Furthermore, the Department of Health is tasked with creating necessary regulations, and the President has the authority to adjust income thresholds as economic conditions change.
