Extension of the Moratorium on the Implementation of the Guidelines on the Conduct of Videoconferencing with Respect to Remote Appearance from Abroad
OCA Circular No. 56-2021 extends the moratorium on the implementation of videoconferencing guidelines for remote appearances from abroad until June 30, 2021. Originally suspended until April 1, 2021, this extension responds to a request from the Department of Foreign Affairs to allow time for the development of internal guidelines and training for personnel. The decision was approved by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo. Judges of first and second level courts are instructed to comply with this extension.

In OCA Circular No. 18-2021, dated 1 February 2021, the implementation of the Guidelines on the Conduct of Videoconferencing (A.M. No. 20-12-01-SC, dated 9 December 2020) with respect to remote appearances from abroad was suspended until 1 April 2021.
However, considering the 21 April 2021 letter of Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), requesting for the "extension of the moratorium until 30 June 2021 in the implementation of Part IV of the Guidelines, pending formulation of internal guidelines and the setup of the DFA's and SC's partnership to train DFA personnel for videoconferencing," and with the approval of Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo, the suspension of the implementation of the Guidelines on the Conduct of Videoconferencing with respect to remote appearances from abroad is hereby extended until 30 June 2021.
