PROCLAMATION NO. 2193

EXTENDING THE AUTHORITY GRANTED TO THE U.P. VANGUARD, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN FOR A PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR

WHEREAS, the U.P. Vanguard, Inc., has again launched various programs for youth and cadet development, such as scholarships and grant-in-aid program awarded to deserving cadets enrolled in the University of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the UPVI is simultaneously implementing various service-oriented projects to further realize its goals and objectives and to bring relevance to its existence in relation to the overall effort of nation-building; and

WHEREAS, the organization needs more time to enable it to realize its fund campaign;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby extend the authority granted to the U.P. Vanguard, Inc., to conduct a national fund campaign for another year from the issuance of this proclamation.

I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines and government and private corporations to give generously of their means to this laudable undertaking. This fund campaign is hereby exempted from the provisions of LOI 828, No. 2(c).

All donations or contributions to the organization shall be exempted from income and gift taxes, and the same shall further be deductible in full and shall not be included for purposes of computing the maximum amount deductible under Section 30, paragraph (h) of the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended.
