LETTER OF INSTRUCTIONS NO. 1185
TO : The Commissioner of Internal Revenue
WHEREAS, the World Title Fight between Rolando Navarette of the Philippines, World Boxing Council Super-Featherweight World Champion, and Choi Chung IL of the Republic of Korea, challenger, will be held in Metro Manila, Philippines on January 16, 1982; cd i
WHEREAS, the World Title Fight is being held for the benefit of the Kilusan ng Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran (KKK) to finance its projects; and
WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 1812 exempts, under certain conditions, boxing exhibitions wherein world championship in any division is at stake from the payment of amusement tax;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order and direct that:
1. All the proceeds derived from or in connection with the world title fight between Rolando Navarette of the Philippines, World Boxing Council Super-Featherweight World Champion, and Choi Chung IL of the Republic of Korea, challenger, to be held in Metro Manila, Philippines, on January 16, 1982, which title fight is being promoted by Azteca Promotions, Inc., a corporation duly organized and existing under the laws of the State of California, U.S.A., with principal office address at 1161 Monterey Park Road, Monterey Park, California 91754 or its duly authorized representative, and the VOR Promotions, Inc., a corporation duly organized and existing under Philippine laws with principal office address at 6764 Ayala Avenue, Makati, Metro Manila or its duly authorized representative, shall be exempt from amusement tax. acd
2. The purse money of Rolando Navarette and Choi Chung IL shall likewise be exempt from amusement tax.
This Letter of Instruction shall take effect immediately.
