Republic Act No. 2928, enacted on June 19, 1960, establishes the Coron School of Fisheries in Coron, Palawan, under the supervision of the Director of Public Schools. The Director of Fisheries serves as the ex-officio dean and can detail personnel from the Bureau of Fisheries to support the school, with the authority to hire fishing experts for instruction. The Secretary of Education is tasked with creating necessary regulations for the school’s operation. An initial appropriation of 100,000 pesos is allocated for the school's establishment, with subsequent funding to be included in future annual budgets. The Act took effect upon its approval.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 2928

AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SCHOOL OF FISHERIES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CORON, PROVINCE OF PALAWAN, TO BE KNOWN AS THE CORON SCHOOL OF FISHERIES, AND AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS THEREFOR

SECTION 1. There shall be established under the direct supervision of the Director of Public Schools, a school of fisheries in the Municipality of Coron, Province of Palawan, to be known as the Coron School of Fisheries.

SECTION 2. The Director of Fisheries shall be ex-officio dean of the Coron School of Fisheries, serving in such capacity without additional compensation. Subject to the approval of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Director of Fisheries is authorized to detail to said school such officers and employees of the Bureau of Fisheries as may be necessary and to employ experts in fishing for the purpose of giving instruction to the students therein. cd

SECTION 3. The Secretary of Education shall promulgate such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry out the purpose of this Act.

SECTION 4. The sum of one hundred thousand pesos is hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the establishment, operation and maintenance of said school during the fiscal year nineteen hundred sixty-one. Such sums as may be needed for its operation and maintenance in subsequent years shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. casia
