Employment of Special Counsel to Defend Claims Against the United States
Act No. 41, enacted on October 31, 1900, establishes the appointment of a special counsel to defend claims against the United States before the Board of Officers on Claims in the Philippines. This counsel, who must be knowledgeable in law, is to be appointed by the United States Philippine Commission and will serve a term of six months, from October 15, 1900, to April 15, 1901. ACT NO. 41
AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF SPECIAL COUNSEL TO DEFEND CLAIMS AGAINST THE UNITED STATES BEFORE THE BOARD OF OFFICERS ON CLAIMS
SECTION 1. There shall be appointed by the United States Philippine Commission a person learned in the law to act as special counsel for the United States in the defense of claims made against the Government of the United States before the Board of Officers on Claims heretofore appointed by the Military Governor.
SECTION 2. The employment of such special counsel shall be for six months, from October fifteenth, nineteen hundred, to April fifteenth, nineteen hundred and one, and the compensation for such six months' service shall be one thousand five hundred dollars, in money of the United States.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage. ETHIDa
