Deputation of Law Enforcement Agencies for the October 29, 2007 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections
Memorandum Order No. 270, issued on September 14, 2007, by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, expresses concurrence with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Resolutions Nos. 8278 and 8277. These resolutions deputize various law enforcement and government agencies, including the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces, to ensure the conduct of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 29, 2007, is free, orderly, honest, peaceful, and credible. The order mandates these agencies to coordinate and cooperate with COMELEC in fulfilling their responsibilities. The memorandum takes effect immediately.

MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 270
EXPRESSING CONCURRENCE AND RATIFICATION IN THE DEPUTATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, THE ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES AND OTHER CONCERNED AGENCIES OF THE GOVERNMENT AS EMBODIED IN COMELEC RESOLUTION NOS. 8278 AND 8277, BOTH PROMULGATED ON 22 AUGUST 2007, IN CONNECTION WITH THE OCTOBER 29, 2007 CONDUCT OF THE BARANGAY AND SANGGUNIANG KABATAAN ELECTIONS
Pursuant to Section 2, (4), Article IX (C) of the Constitution, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, do hereby concur with Resolution Nos. 8278 and 8277 of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), both promulgated on 22 August 2007, deputizing the National Police Commission, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Armed Forces of the Philippines and all concerned agencies of the government for the purpose of ensuring free, orderly, honest, peaceful and credible conduct of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, on October 29, 2007.
The foregoing agencies are hereby directed to coordinate and cooperate with the Commission on Elections in the performance of their duties and functions. DSEaHT
This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
