MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 255
EXPRESSING CONCURRENCE AND RATIFICATION IN THE DEPUTATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND OTHER CONCERNED AGENCIES OF THE GOVERNMENT, AS EMBODIED IN COMELEC RESOLUTION NOS. 8109 AND 8108, BOTH PROMULGATED 31 MAY 2007, IN CONNECTION WITH THE JUNE 23, 2007 PLEBISCITE TO RATIFY THE CONVERSION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF BATAC IN THE PROVINCE OF ILOCOS NORTE INTO A COMPONENT CITY TO BE KNOWN AS THE CITY OF BATAC, PURSUANT TO REPUBLIC ACT 9407
Pursuant to Section 2 (4), Article IX (C) of the Constitution, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, do hereby concur with Resolution Nos. 8109 and 8108 of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), both promulgated 31 May 2007, deputizing the Department of Education (DepEd); Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH); Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), including their secretaries; National Police Commission including its Chairman; and the Philippine National Police (PNP), including its Chief, and all the officers and men under him in the Province of Ilocos Norte, for the purpose of ensuring free, orderly, honest, peaceful and credible conduct of the June 23, 2007 plebiscite to ratify the conversion of the Municipality of Batac in the Province of Ilocos Norte into a component city to be known as the City of Batac, pursuant to Republic Act No. 9407. ASETHC
The foregoing national and local officials and employees, law enforcement agencies and other instrumentalities of the government, are hereby directed to coordinate and cooperate with the Commission on Elections in the performance of their duties and functions.
This Memorandum Order shall take effect immediately.
DONE in the City of Manila, this 18th day of June, in the Year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Seven.
