This date marks the 13th anniversary of the city's charter, established under Republic Act No. 8192, which converted Sagay from a municipality to a component city on June 11, 1996. DECLARING THURSDAY, JUNE 11, 2009, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF SAGAY, PROVINCE OF NEGROS OCCIDENTAL
WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 8192 converting the Municipality of Sagay into a component city of the Province of Negros Occidental, was signed on June 11, 1996;
WHEREAS, Thursday, June 11, 2009, marks the 13th Charter Day Anniversary of the City of Sagay;
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the people of the City of Sagay be given full opportunity to celebrate this milestone in their city's history with appropriate ceremonies.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Thursday, June 11, 2009, as special (non-working) day in the City of Sagay, Province of Negros Occidental.
