Declaration of September 17 as Siquijor Day
Republic Act No. 7673, enacted on January 10, 1994, designates September 17 of each year as a non-working special public holiday in the Province of Siquijor, officially called Siquijor Day. This date commemorates the creation of Siquijor Island as a province under Republic Act No. 6398, signed in 1971. The law took effect immediately upon its approval and was published in the Official Gazette on April 25, 1994. It was enacted without the President's signature, in accordance with the Constitution.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7673
AN ACT TO DECLARE THE SEVENTEENTH DAY OF SEPTEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS A NON-WORKING SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR THE PROVINCE OF SIQUIJOR TO BE KNOWN AS SIQUIJOR DAY
SECTION 1. Republic Act No. 6398 which created Siquijor Island into a province was enacted and signed by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos on September 17, 1971. cd i
SECTION 2. The seventeenth day of September of every year is hereby declared a non-working special public holiday for the Province of Siquijor to be known as Siquijor Day.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect immediately upon its approval.
* Lapsed into law on January 10, 1994 without the President's signature in accordance with Article VI, Section 28(1) of the Constitution. cdt
