Creation of Municipality of Rosario, Northern Samar
Republic Act No. 5867, enacted on June 21, 1969, establishes the Municipality of Rosario in Northern Samar by separating the barrios of Rosario, Salhag, Buenavista, Kagkawayan, and Jamoog from the Municipality of San Jose. The new municipality will have its seat of government at the current site of the barrio of Rosario. The first local officials, including the mayor, vice-mayor, and councilors, are to be elected in the next general elections. This Act took effect upon its approval and was published in the Official Gazette on February 16, 1970.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 5867
AN ACT CREATING THE MUNICIPALITY OF ROSARIO IN THE PROVINCE OF NORTHERN SAMAR
SECTION 1. Barrios Rosario, Salhag, Buenavista, Kagkawayan, and Jamoog in the Municipality of San Jose, Province of Northern Samar, are hereby separated from said municipality and constituted into a distinct and independent municipality, to be known as the Municipality of Rosario, same province. The seat of government of the new municipality shall be in the present site of the barrio of Rosario. cdt
SECTION 2. The first mayor, vice-mayor, and councilors of the new municipality shall be elected in the next general elections for local officials.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
