Creation of Municipality of Gamay, Samar
Republic Act No. 90, enacted on February 26, 1947, establishes the Municipality of Gamay in the Province of Samar by separating several barrios from the municipality of Palapag. The new municipality consists of 15 specified barrios. Initially, the municipal mayor, vice-mayor, and councilors will be appointed by the President of the Philippines until subsequent elections are held. The Act takes effect upon its approval and was published in the Official Gazette in March 1947.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 90
AN ACT CREATING THE MUNICIPALITY OF GAMAY, PROVINCE OF SAMAR
SECTION 1. The barrios of Gamay, Cagamotan Potong, Lapinig, Mabini, Bangon de Gamay, Anito, Mapanas, Palanas, Look, Cahugwayan, Canomarcio, Pio del Pilar, Rizal, Jubasan, Siljagon, Magtaon and San Antonio, of the municipality of Palapag, Province of Samar, are hereby constituted into a new and separate municipality to be known as the Municipality of Gamay.
SECTION 2. The municipal mayor, vice-mayor and councilors of the municipality herein created shall be appointed by the President of the Philippines to hold office until their successors are elected and qualified.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
