Creation of Municipality of Balangkayan, Samar
Republic Act No. 2181, enacted on May 2, 1959, establishes the Municipality of Balangkayan in the Province of Samar by separating several barrios from the Municipality of Llorente. The new municipality's government will be located in Balangkayan, and its first mayor, vice-mayor, and councilors will be appointed by the President, pending confirmation by the Commission on Appointments, until elections are held for their successors. REPUBLIC ACT NO. 2181
AN ACT CREATING THE MUNICIPALITY OF BALANGKAYAN, PROVINCE OF SAMAR
SECTION 1. The barrios of Balangkayan, Kabay, Maramag, Julag and Bangong in the Municipality of Llorente, Province of Samar, are separated from said municipality and are constituted into a distinct and independent municipality to be known as the Municipality of Balangkayan, same province. The seat of government shall be located at the site of the present barrio Balangkayan. acd
SECTION 2. The first mayor, vice-mayor and councilors of the new municipality shall be appointed by the President, subject to the confirmation of the Commission on Appointments, and shall hold office until their successors shall have been elected in the next general elections for local officials and shall have qualified.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
