REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7927

AN ACT CONVERTING THE BATANES SCHOOL OF ARTS AND TRADES (BSAT) INTO A POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE, TO BE KNOWN AS THE BATANES POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE

SECTION 1. The Batanes School of Arts and Trades in Basco, Batanes, is hereby converted into a polytechnic college, to be known as the Batanes Polytechnic College, hereinafter referred to in this Act as the College.

SECTION 2. The College, in addition to its present secondary offerings, shall primarily provide higher technological, professional and vocational instructions and training in sciences, agricultural and industrial fields, as well as short-term technical and vocational courses, subject to the policies and standards of the Commission on Higher Education.

SECTION 3. No student shall be denied admission to the College by reason of sex, ethnic considerations, religious belief or affiliation.

SECTION 4. The College shall be under the administrative and supervisory control of the chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education.

SECTION 5. All assets, obligations and appropriations of the Batanes School of Arts and Trades, whether fixed or movable, records and personnel, are hereby transferred and/or absorbed by the Batanes Polytechnic College.

SECTION 6. The amount necessary for the implementation of this Act shall be charged against the current year's appropriations of the Batanes School of Arts and Trades. Thereafter, such sums as may be necessary for its operation and maintenance shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

SECTION 7. The chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education is hereby directed to take such steps necessary for the immediate implementation of this Act.

SECTION 8. All laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed or amended accordingly.

SECTION 9. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
