Batas Pambansa Blg. 540, enacted on June 24, 1983, converts the Baguio Barangay High School in Davao City into the Baguio National School of Arts and Trades, a national secondary institution. The law allocates an initial funding of one hundred thousand pesos from the appropriations for new national high schools and mandates additional financial support from the national assistance fund. Future operational and maintenance costs are to be included in the annual General Appropriations Act. The act took effect upon its approval and was published in the Official Gazette on April 23, 1984.

AN ACT CONVERTING THE BAGUIO BARANGAY HIGH SCHOOL IN THE CITY OF DAVAO INTO A NATIONAL SECONDARY ARTS AND TRADES SCHOOL TO BE KNOWN AS THE BAGUIO NATIONAL SCHOOL OF ARTS AND TRADES
SECTION 1. The Baguio Barangay High School in the City of Davao is converted into a national secondary arts and trades school to be known as the Baguio National School of Arts and Trades. cd
SECTION 2. The amount of one hundred thousand pesos for the operation of the school shall be funded out of the appropriations authorized by Batas Pambansa Bilang 230 for the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports intended for new national high schools and an additional amount corresponding to fifty percent of its share in the budgetary aid actually paid to it before such conversion shall be released for its operation from the national assistance fund to local schools. Thereafter, such sum as may be necessary for its operation and maintenance shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. acd
